Dark tulipsI struggle with major depression and anxiety.

This blog is my personal exploration of various treatments for these mental illnesses, from journalling and counselling to yoga and meditation.

I hope to connect with others who have experienced depression (either for themselves or through someone close) to share and learn more about these illnesses. I think that my fear of stigma has made my experience of depression more difficult and so I welcome this forum as a place to break down the silence.

I’m also on Twitter @moodytales.

  1. Yeah, the stigma sucks. I have found a very open way to deal with it. But I can defend myself against pretty much anyone I encountered so far. I hope you have a nice day.

Hey, I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog. There’s a lot I can relate to and just the way you go about with your writing is interesting and engaging. I’ve nominated you for the Liebster Award. You may know what this is (or have already received one), but if not it’s basically an award that is given by bloggers to other blogs they enjoy. Anyway, here’s the link to my post about it so you can read the rules: http://susannaantihero.wordpress.com/2014/04/03/liebster-award-nomination/

    • Thank you so much, Susanna! I’m thrilled that you find my writing to be interesting and engaging, despite the fact that I’ve mostly been writing about tiredness lately. 😉 I look forward to checking out your blog as I love travel and scuba too. xx

Well, to be interesting while being tired is quite a feat and therefore you deserve your nomination. 😉

Hey! So how do I go about doing the Liebster award thing? I’m glad to have another blogging buddy – it’s so nice that there’s a community of people who “get it” =)

    • 🙂 You don’t have to do anything at all. But if you want to pass on the award, you just have to nominate some new blogs you like (any number in my opinion!), answer my questions and ask some of your own. xx

  6. Hey you! Are you interested in guest blogging for my new site?

Reading through your site, i found it very brave and heartfelt. Like you i’ve been living with depression for years and trying so many things other people can’t believe.
I don’t have enough faith to write all that but i like you can dot it so that others can read an understand a bit.
You’re not only brave, you’re also very imaginative, coming every month with new ideas, new trying and new hope.
Someday i surf the web in search of new hope, in search of testimony from people trying this or that. Not easy to find its way while some are so much receptive to methods that are useless to others. But we try.
I feel so much close to your quest. Each of your text remind me something in my own life and reverberate in me.
Of course i’m often very sad but at least i keep the hope that each step we make to better understand depression and to move out of it, the whole humanity invisibly learns it and slowly we help to preserve next generations to avoid this tragedy.
I hope you find a path to emotional peace and to a sunny life.
I hope many people read your blog and become aware and moved and they recognise your inner beauty and bless you.

    • Thank you so much, François. It is hard to stay hopeful when you live with depression but, as you say, we try. I’m glad that my site touched you. Of everything I’ve tried, it is this blog and connecting with people like you and me that has helped the most. So thank you so much for taking the time to write to me. Je vous souhaite aussi la paix et le bonheur. xx
